Fall Chrysanthemum Flower Favors DIY

Fall is in full effect around here, and with it, big planters are bursting with beautiful, colorful chrysanthemums. This simple crepe paper version involves only paper and glue, no wire or fancy flower techniques. If you want, add a tag with a guests name to double as a festive place card for Thanksgiving dinner.

Materials needed: Crepe paper streamers in chrysanthemum colors – purple, dark red, yellow, blush, white, green, craft glue, scissors, papier mache boxes (or similar – this wooden version would be perfect as well). Optional: paper tag.

Step 1: Take a 2-foot length of streamer. Fold it in half.
Step 2: Fold it in half again, then fold it width-wise. To make a smaller size flower, cut ¼” lengthwise off the strip at this step.
Step 3: Cut fringe along the length of the streamer.
Step 4: Open up lengthwise, and apply a line of glue along the bottom edge.
Step 5: Roll the fringed paper in a spiral. Let dry.
Step 6: Gently fluff the flower open with your fingertips. Cut out a small green leaf, and apply to base of flower. Let dry. Once you have several flowers per box, attach to lid with craft glue.
Optional: Print out and glue on a tag for each box.
